Hey Henry Boy!
Seven months have gone by. We're now closer to toddlerhood than infanthood - only six or so months before you're running around causing trouble! I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want for you, what I hope you learn and accomplish, and it's hitting me how heavy a task it is to raise you to be a good person.
I'd love to instill values in you, first and foremost of kindness. I want your heart to be open, loving, and accepting. There's not a speck of hatred in you, and I intend to keep it that way. I think the best way to do that is to teach you your own value in an eternal sense, and then teach you that everyone has that value. I hope you always smile as much as you do now. I want you to try to make other people smile, too.
I can already see how smart you are, so focused and observant. I want you to love learning. I want you to love and respect your teachers, and be excited about new things. You have such a sense of wonder and concentration when you experience little pieces of the world for the first time - I hope you always keep that. I want to teach you to have healthy habits and great ambition and follow-through. I want to show you what it means to live a life of service. I want you to see what a marriage of love and affection looks like.
I want your soccer games and piano recitals to be filled with support from all the people in your life. I'll do my best to make sure everyone is as involved as they can be. Speaking of that, I want you to develop a love and talent for music. Sports are more up to you.
I'm so excited to show you the world! The little bits of it that we've seen together have been so fun.
You are innately good.
We love you, boy.
So sweet. Your little guy is lucky to have you!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Casey's linkup, btw!
Very sweet :) I wish that I had started doing this for my babies when they were younger. It doesn't seem fair to only start one as a baby.
